OSR Challenges

Numenera, wilderness
  • You must pass.... High walls down to a deep pit with constantly dripping, frictionless dampness on the walls.
  • Path through room says "To pass, repeat the greatest saying of all."
  • Green growth is so dense you can't move foward.  Attempts to remove it make it come back more quickly than it can be removed.
  • Person is trapped by an crackling wall of energy.  There is a control panel inside it.  You want to get the person out.
  • A portal only appears when a certain sound is played.  Locals say it is the sound of the Warbom bird, lamenting its lost mate.
  • You happen upon a ravine with a series of stepping stones on tall pedestals.  There is fog obscuring your view of the other side, and when breathed it makes you perceive your actions as happening backwards.
  • Seed of creeping vine that only germinates when it is consumed, initially mind controlling the host herbivore, and then consuming the corpse, is used as quick housing.  Should you let this pass?
  • Deed claiming ownership of a tree, but arguments that the tree is no longer the same as the tree deeded, 400 years before.  Who should get it?
  • Stumble upon a two towns-worth of people (humans, llama-hybrids).  Arguments about whether they should run higher into the mountains (llamas) or stand and fight (humans).  Widening pit is a threat to both.
